Cleanse?

I am seriously considering a candida cleanse diet.  Yeast apparently builds up in our systems when we take certain medications (birth control, antibiotics, etc.).  Here's a link about the diet

Has anyone tried this?

Also looking into the Blood Type Diet.  Check out their website

I have chatted with a new friend about both but am curious about other people's experiences with them!

  1. OMG! I have totally not only done it, but am doing it again starting TODAY. Yes ma'am. It sucks, but damn it, it is the BEST I have ever felt and I lost weight... But mostly I felt good and thin and healthy. Seriously. I work with a nutritionist and as of today I am back on it for some amount of time that we dont know yet until we see how things go.

I originally did it in September and was on it for 6 weeks. I did not cheat even ONE time either, which is difficult to be quite honest. Then we slowly introduced fruit and some gluten-free grains (I have a gluten allergy), but I guess things have gotten out of control because I just about back to where I started. I think that wine and my love for fruit made the candida, for me anyway, come back. I am not sure how often that happens - my digestive situation is different from most people due to cancer/surgeries and stuff like that.

I recommend it for sure, but, again, it isn't easy but because I paid SO much for the supplements and I felt so crappy every single time I ate, I stuck with it. I am sure you can too :)

Email me if you want to know more!!!!!

  2. I'm an herbalist in Alberta, Canada, and the candida cleanse gets used in our clinic all the time. It's tough, but if a candida overgrowth is affecting your health, it is definitely worth it. Feel free to email me if you have any questions about it (hhalls@wrc.net).

Here's a link to a candida questionaire to help figure out if it's an likely to be an issue for you (we use other diagnostic tools in the clinic, but the question sheet is easier online)

I don't know a lot about the blood type diet, but I've heard good things from people.

  5. That cleanse thing sucks if you can't have a margarita, IMHO. j/k, more power to you, I hope it makes you feel great! :-)

  6. For the most part, no yeast, no sugar, no dairy. It's a lot of lettuce and water. lol!

  7. I started the cleanse today. And I want to stab everyone in the eye.

I just keep repeating: Food is for fuel and not pleasure.

But I want to shove bread into my face! Fists full of beautiful, soft, delicious, warm bread. Covered in butter! UGH!!!!!!!!!!

    That is all.

  8. Good luck to you! We just finished up a yeast free diet cleanse with a group of us on Facebook and it went really well!

The first time I tried the diet several years ago I was starving and so I quit. As a result of that first failure I put together a cookbook (ebook) of over 165 yeast free recipes that I now use whenever I do the Candida cleanse. If you are serious about getting rid of yeast but you aren't much of a meal planner it really helps.

    You can find it here:

    I hope it helps!
